Role & Opportunity:
The responsibilities of this position are focused on battery pack verification, reviewing battery design specifications and provide feedback for performance and testability. Manage battery pack test for safety protection, fuel gauging, etc. Design comprehensive battery test protocols to characterize complex battery parameters. Work with high accuracy EE test equipment, configure and run complex test setups. Work in close cooperation with an international cross-functional team of professionals.
Candidates should be able to apply core electrical engineering hardware and firmware skills to drive detailed problem solving on battery pack design within a technical team. Strong aptitude towards detailed design work with emphasis on qualifying multiple designs for battery mass production. Proven ability to drive the completion of project goals and effectively access progress vs program goals
Qualifications:
?Three to five years of direct battery design development and test as well as, performance / safety characterization experience with emphasis on lithium ion batteries for consumer applications
?Minimum of 3+ years’ experience contributing to the design and production of complex products in the electronics industry.
?Familiarity with battery test equipment, test procedures, international standards applicable to rechargeable lithium battery products.
?In-depth knowledge of Li-ion battery operation and performance including charging, discharging, protection, cycle life, temperature effects and failure modes.
?Experience in reviewing and analyzing various aspects of Li-ion battery test data
?Experience with programing and using battery cycling test equipment like Maccor.
?Experience in working with external vendors and contractors to develop and qualify battery designs for consumer applications
?Strong bench evaluation and in-lab debugging skills are required.
?Hands-on board design experience, familiar with design tools including Altium Designer, Cadence and Allegro.
?Good understanding of battery cell/pack assembly processes
?Conducting detailed failure analysis on battery pack and the related interface(I2C, SMBus, etc.); working with manufacturing and engineering teams to put in corrective actions
?Strong communication skills required, including the ability to clearly express technical concepts in verbal and written forms. Will need to communicate with team members is USA.
?Must be able to plan work, and work to a plan adapting as necessary in a rapidly evolving environment.
?Enthusiastic, motivated and self-driven.
?Design for manufacturing and test experience is required. Experience with CDM partners is desirable.
?The ability to comprehend and assimilate technical concepts across multiple disciplines is a plus.
?Domestic and international travel may be required.
